Barbados could become the first country to completely ban smoking

Barbados is a highly literate country with an outstanding 100% literacy rating. It also has a superb National Health Service (NHS), and as with education that’s free to all from the pre-school stage to university postgraduate level the much treasured and profoundly respected Barbados NHS is also universally free at every point of entry to it.

 

And both these major national assets of ours are hugely reflected in the healthy stature and longevity of life of our Bajan people, since Barbados can proudly and justifiably boast that among all other countries worldwide, it most outstandingly has the highest and additionally an inspirationally ongoing number of actually living as well as near in their close proximity to that precious landmark centenarians per population globally.

 

So we Bajans do know how to take care of and responsibly look after our health. But at the same time Barbados is also a foremost international tourist destination and vocational resort and unhappily for us some highly irresponsible outsiders do uncaringly bring their unhealthy habits to our shores most disappointingly and which can deplorably be copied by the young and impressionable among our population.

 

And therefore we as a nation must do whatever we possibly can to stop these kinds of very unhealthy and imported practices impinging on our country and people. Smoking is definitely one of them, and with many western countries belatedly banning cigarette smoking in public places because of the now medically and publicly well-known hazards of smoking to human health the tobacco industry has avidly and rather self-servingly turned its focus on the Global South in order to recoup its major and burgeoning financial losses in these former areas of its once unrivalled dominance.

 

And where better, those who run the tobacco industry evidently seem to think, to recoup their distressing losses than in an ideally idyllic tropical paradise like Barbados; and with the same tobacco industry employing its cancer-ridden money to promote local and beloved sports like cricket and football against the targeting advertising backdrop of fake machoism or feminine glamour of would-be smokers and most particularly so among the young and trendy elements of the island’s population.

 

This blatant dishonesty with its multifaceted dangers to our Barbadian and other Caribbean citizens and inhabitants must be stopped forthwith, and while education is a key method of doing so, very stringent legal and financially punishing proscriptions must also be vigorously put in place as a resolutely no-nonsense deterrent.

 

That’s why it’s fundamentally important that the Barbados Government comprised solely of the Democratic Labour Party (DLP) of which I’m a proud and longstanding member of, knew its late founder, Royal Air Force World War II hero and my friend Errol Walton Barrow, the Father of Barbados’ Independence, our first Prime Minister as a sovereign and independent nation and one of the officially declared and honoured 10 National Heroes of Barbados, who insightfully, courageously, altruistically and commendably gave us Bajans free education and correspondingly free health care implement as a matter of the utmost urgency stringent non-smoking laws in all public places and other venues where people congregate socially.

 

So that younger Bajans, just like our deeply respected elders and departed but dearly beloved ancestors can themselves too, unhampered by wholly avoidable illnesses and diseases that are unquestionably associated with smoking in all of its deceptive guises, live to our conventional Bajan, ripe old age custom of being centenarians plus. And it would be absolutely fantastic if Barbados with this very much in mind could become the world’s first international and idyllic tropical destination where an absolute 100% universal smoking ban was preferably sensibly, intelligently, most pragmatically and statutorily introduced for all, locals and tourists alike.

 

For the current and painstakingly hard-earned status quo of Barbados being an exceptionally healthy and idyllic paradise in numerous and pleasurably rewarding ways is one that all of us Bajans would be thoroughly foolish to imperil in any circumstance. And for what? To rather foolhardily and vaingloriously parade ourselves to act like automated mannequins controlled by outsiders while at the same time wilfully damaging our precious health; and all this for the graspingly avaricious and bloated commercial advantages and financial rewards of those that candidly, truthfully and most unapologetically on my part in saying so, couldn’t give a damn about us Barbadians as a people, a nation or even as fellow human beings, and whose primary and only purpose as far as we’re concerned is to freely and financially line their own pockets.

Das Rauchen ist definitiv einer von ihnen, und mit vielen westlichen Ländern, die verspätet Zigarettenrauchen an öffentlichen Orten wegen der jetzt medizinisch und öffentlich bekannten Gefahren des Rauchens für die menschliche Gesundheit verbieten, hat die Tabakindustrie eifrig und eher selbstsüchtig ihren Fokus auf die Global South, um seine großen und aufkeimenden finanziellen Verluste in diesen ehemaligen Gebieten seiner einstmals unübertroffenen Dominanz wiederzuerlangen.

Diese eklatante Unehrlichkeit mit ihren vielfältigen Gefahren für unsere Barbados und andere karibische Bürger und Einwohner muss sofort gestoppt werden, und während Bildung eine Schlüsselmethode dafür ist, müssen sehr strenge gesetzliche und finanziell bestrafende Ämter auch energisch als entschieden nein eingeführt werden - Unsinn Abschreckung.

Und wofür? Um sich ziemlich tollkühn und prahlerisch zu verhalten, um sich wie automatisierte Mannequins zu verhalten, die von Außenseitern kontrolliert werden, während sie gleichzeitig unsere kostbare Gesundheit absichtlich schädigen; und all das für die greifbar geizigen und aufgedunsenen kommerziellen Vorteile und finanziellen Belohnungen derjenigen, die aufrichtig, aufrichtig und uneinsichtig meinen Teil dazu beitrugen, konnten uns Barbadianer als Volk, Nation oder sogar als Mitmenschen nicht schämen Wesen, deren primärer und einziger Zweck, soweit es uns betrifft, darin besteht, frei und finanziell die eigenen Taschen zu füllen.

Så vi Bajans vet hur vi ska ta hand om och ansvarigt ta hand om vår hälsa. Men samtidigt är Barbados också ett främst internationellt turistmål och yrkesort och olyckligt för oss är vissa oansvariga outsidare oroväckligt bringar sina ohälsosamma vanor till våra stränder mest nedslående och som otroligt kan kopieras av unga och intryckbara bland vår befolkning.

 

Och därför måste vi som en nation göra vad vi än kan göra för att stoppa dessa typer av mycket ohälsosamma och importerade praxis som påverkar vårt land och folk. Alors que les Bajans plus jeunes, tout comme nos aînés profondément respectés et nos ancêtres bien-aimés, peuvent eux aussi, sans entraves, souffrir de maladies évitables et de maladies indéniablement associées au tabagisme sous toutes ses formes trompeuses, vivre notre Bajan conventionnel, vieillesse mûre coutume d'être des centenaires plus. Et il serait absolument fantastique que la Barbade avec cette idée en tête devienne la première destination tropicale internationale et idyllique au monde où une interdiction absolue de fumer à 100% était de préférence judicieusement, intelligemment, pragmatiquement et statutairement introduite pour tous, locaux et touristes .

 

Car le statu quo actuel et durement acquis de la Barbade étant un paradis exceptionnellement sain et idyllique dans de nombreuses et agréablement façons enrichissantes est celui que tous les Bajans seraient parfaitement idiots de mettre en péril dans n'importe quelle circonstance. Et pour quoi? Se montrer assez imprudent et vaniteux pour agir comme des mannequins automatisés contrôlés par des étrangers tout en endommageant volontairement notre précieuse santé; et tout cela pour les avantages commerciaux saisissants avaricieux et gonflés et les récompenses financières de ceux qui, franchement, honnêtement et très sans emphase de ma part, le disant, ne pouvait pas se soucier de nous Barbadiens comme un peuple, une nation ou même comme un humain êtres humains, et dont le seul et unique but, en ce qui nous concerne, est de s'orienter librement et financièrement.

Barbados podría convertirse en el primer país en prohibir completamente fumar

Barbados es un país altamente alfabetizado con una excelente calificación de alfabetización del 100%. También tiene un excelente Servicio Nacional de Salud (NHS), y como con la educación que es gratuita para todos, desde la etapa preescolar hasta el posgrado universitario, el muy respetado y respetado NHS de Barbados también es universalmente gratuito en todos los puntos de entrada.

 

Y estos dos importantes activos nacionales se reflejan enormemente en la saludable estatura y longevidad de la vida de nuestro pueblo bajense, ya que Barbados puede presumir orgullosa y justificadamente que, entre todos los demás países del mundo, tiene el más alto y adicionalmente inspirado número de vivir tan cerca como de cerca de ese hito centenario por población a nivel mundial.

 

Entonces, los Bajans sabemos cómo cuidar y cuidar responsablemente nuestra salud. Pero, al mismo tiempo, Barbados es también un importante destino turístico internacional y complejo vocacional, y desgraciadamente para nosotros, algunos extranjeros sumamente irresponsables llevan sus hábitos insalubres a nuestras costas de manera descorazonante y que deplorablemente pueden ser copiados por los jóvenes e impresionables entre nuestra población.

Y, mejor aún, quienes dirigen la industria tabacalera parecen pensar, evidentemente, en recuperar sus angustiosas pérdidas que en un idílico paraíso tropical idílico como Barbados; y con la misma industria tabacalera empleando su dinero lleno de cáncer para promover deportes locales y queridos como el cricket y el fútbol contra el telón de fondo publicitario del mafia falso o el glamour femenino de los aspirantes a fumadores y más particularmente entre los elementos jóvenes y modernos del población de la isla

 

Esta descarada deshonestidad con sus peligros multifacéticos para nuestros ciudadanos y habitantes de Barbados y otros del Caribe debe detenerse de inmediato, y si bien la educación es un método clave para hacerlo, también se deben establecer vigorosamente prohibiciones legales y sancionadoras muy estrictas como -disiento sin sentido.

 

Es por eso que es fundamentalmente importante que el Gobierno de Barbados compuesto únicamente por el Partido Laborista Democrático (DLP) del que soy un miembro orgulloso y de larga data, conociera a su último fundador, héroe de la Segunda Guerra Mundial de la Royal Air Force y mi amigo Errol Walton Barrow, el padre de la independencia de Barbados, nuestro primer primer ministro como nación soberana e independiente y uno de los 10 héroes nacionales de Barbados declarados y honrados oficialmente, que de manera inteligente, valiente, altruista y digna de elogio, nos dio educación gratuita de Bajans y, consecuentemente, instrumento de salud gratuito como una cuestión de máxima urgencia, leyes estrictas contra el tabaquismo en todos los lugares públicos y otros lugares donde las personas se congregan socialmente.

 

De modo que los Bajans más jóvenes, al igual que nuestros respetados ancianos y difuntos, pero muy queridos ancestros, también pueden ser libres de enfermedades y enfermedades totalmente evitables que sin lugar a dudas están asociadas al tabaquismo en todas sus formas engañosas, a nuestro Bajan convencional, madura edad avanzada costumbre de ser centenarios más. Y sería absolutamente fantástico si Barbados con esto en mente pudiera convertirse en el primer destino tropical internacional e idílico en el que una prohibición absoluta de fumar 100% universal sea preferiblemente prudente, inteligente, pragmática y estatutariamente presentada para todos, tanto locales como turistas. .

 

Para el statu quo actual y laboriosamente ganado de Barbados, que es un paraíso excepcionalmente sano e idílico de numerosas y placenteramente gratificantes formas es uno que todos los bhajans sería completamente tonto poner en peligro en cualquier circunstancia. ¿Y para qué? Nos paseamos de forma temeraria y vana como actuar como maniquíes automatizados controlados por extraños mientras que al mismo tiempo dañan deliberadamente nuestra preciosa salud; y todo esto por las ventajas comerciales endiabladamente avaras e hinchadas y las recompensas financieras de aquellos que sinceramente, sinceramente y sin disculpas por mi parte al decirlo, no podrían importarle un bledo a los barbadenses como pueblo, nación o incluso como compañeros humanos seres, y cuyo principal y único propósito, en lo que a nosotros respecta, es forjar libre y financieramente sus propios bolsillos.

Honesty and its practices are what really matter not the epoch that one lives in!

There are those who with the fast approaching climax of the

year 2017 will cheerfully or else unconcernedly say we

should celebrate its end and whatever good things,

if any of substance, that it did individually bring

to those who were fortunate enough to receive

them, but then, in accordance, with all this

immediately and happily move on with

our lives to welcoming in the rapidly

advancing New Year of 2018. All that, I suspect, with

the tactless prospect of readily discarding the old,

on the one hand, and on the other unrestrainedly

embracing the new one. The underpinning to

that being that the past is exactly that, and

consequently there’s absolutely nothing

which can be done about changing an

conclusive fact. So why spend time,

energy and even the possibility of

using precious money looking

back at, far less so essaying

in a revisionist fashion to

construe or even worse

totally modify what

the past honestly represents?

In other words, what are

firmly recognized and

largely categorically

unalterable facts!

 

One way, I guess, of looking at it if superficiality is all

that the unconcerned or thoughtless observer has in

mind. But while for certain it’s positively clear

and incontestably true that the past itself can

not or shouldn’t be unfastened from what

has formerly gone on, it’s even so from

every authentic and prescient-minded

perspective and, at best, quite naïve

in the process also, to effectively dismiss the past

as a faraway irrelevance with no significant or

any germane influence on the present, and

far less so on the impending future. For

to arrogantly think that while inanely

supposing that there isn’t anything

constructive to be achieved from

examining the past and learning

from errors which were made

there, whether purposefully,

inadvertently or foolishly,

is not only foolhardy in

name but moreover at

worst, clearly insane.

 

And while specific characteristics of 2017 might

basically, and on a personal level, be overall

very comforting, and predominantly so

from a psychological assessment;

however, in fancifully or even

earnestly overlooking, ignoring or calculatingly

discarding the unadulterated truth about 2017

is forthrightly purely wishful thinking and,

in that context alone, doesn’t augur well

in any situation thereof - for lessons

not wisely learnt and all that sort

of thing – for the inauguration

of the New Year that’s 2018.

It’s quite easy to understand why and likewise how one can be sympathetic towards persons who, specifically through no fault of their own, have been subjected to immense and intense traumatic experiences that they in turn wish to and have concertedly done everything in their power to erase from their consciousness as best they can, because they’re too psychologically caught up in the painful experiences of it all and accordingly don’t wish to dwell upon them.

 

And while I’m not suggesting for a single moment that such an enterprise shouldn’t be taken by such individuals there is nevertheless a vast world of difference between endeavouring to intentionally blot out something quite unpleasant that happened to one’s self on the one hand, while on the other obdurately pretending, for whatever reason, that it never happened. All the more so since the real process of healing is to courageously, however difficult that might be, effectively deal with and hopefully finally come to terms with that particular unpleasantness in one’s life however agonizingly painful a task that might be.

 

Since without objectively doing so a proper and definitive closure, however delusion one may consider that they’ve attained that objective, will in all truthfulness never be entirely attained and in the attendant circumstances only serve as a festering sore which at any time could very well spontaneously break out again.

 

It’s the same state of affairs in everyday life and at whatever level that one can seriously and realistically think of, from essentially every day and seemingly mundane instances to crucial and potentially earth-shattering situations. For whichever way that it’s independently looked at the past does even so have a significant bearing on both the present and the future whether that is sagaciously and practically accepted or not. And whether or not that impact is for the common good of humanity universally or conversely for its utter destruction will, of course, depend considerably on the wisdom, or lack of it, of all those involved.

 

But, in my opinion, randomly making New Year’s resolutions which essentially any idiot can do without those involved being obliged to take full cognizance of what has earlier gone on in the previous year isn’t just purblind ignorance but also definitively the height of insanity.

Making New Year resolutions is just fine. Keeping and implementing them is an entirely different matter!

All that, I suspect, with the unthinking prospect of readily discarding the old on the one hand and on the other fulsomely embracing the new one. The foundation to that being that the past is precisely that and consequently there’s absolutely nothing that can be done about changing an empirical. So why then waste time, energy and even the possibility of expending valuable money looking back at, much less so attempting in revisionist fashion to reinterpret or, worse still, entirely alter what the past really represents? In other words, what are firmly established and completely unalterable facts!

Das Vorschlagen von Neujahrsvorschlägen ist in Ordnung. Sie zu halten und umzusetzen ist eine ganz andere Sache!

Es gibt diejenigen, die mit dem sich nähernden Höhepunkt des Jahres 2017 fröhlich oder sonst unbekümmert sagen werden, dass wir sein Ende und alle guten Dinge feiern sollten, wenn sie irgendeinen Inhalt haben, dass es einzeln zu denjenigen brachte, die das Glück hatten, sie zu empfangen, aber dann im Einklang mit all dem sofort und glücklich weitermachen mit unserem Leben, um im schnell voranschreitenden neuen Jahr 2018 zu begrüßen.

 

All das, vermute ich, mit der gedankenlosen Aussicht, das Alte auf der einen Seite zu verwerfen und auf der anderen Seite die Neue fassungslos anzunehmen. Die Grundlage dafür ist, dass die Vergangenheit genau das ist und folglich absolut nichts getan werden kann, um eine empirische zu verändern. Warum also dann Zeit, Energie und sogar die Möglichkeit vergeuden, wertvolles Geld auszugeben, geschweige denn versuchen, revisionistisch neu zu interpretieren oder, schlimmer noch, ganz zu verändern, was die Vergangenheit wirklich darstellt? Mit anderen Worten, was sind fest etablierte und absolut unveränderbare Fakten!

 

Ich denke, es ist eine Möglichkeit, es zu betrachten, wenn die Oberflächlichkeit alles ist, was der zufällige oder gedankenlose Beobachter denkt. Aber mit Sicherheit ist es kategorisch klar und ohne Zweifel wahr, dass die Vergangenheit selbst nicht aus dem, was bisher tatsächlich passiert ist, nicht aus einer genauen und vorausschauenden Perspektive und bestenfalls eher naiv in der Welt sein kann Und zwar auch, um die Vergangenheit grundsätzlich als eine ferne Irrelevanz zu verwerfen, die keinen sinnvollen oder relevanten Einfluss auf die Gegenwart hat, und schon gar nicht auf die bevorstehende Zukunft.

 

Für selbstgefällig denken, dass, während man frech glaubt, dass tatsächlich nichts Substanzielles aus der Untersuchung der Vergangenheit und Lernen von Fehlern, die dort gemacht wurden, ob diese bewusst, unabsichtlich oder sogar unvorsichtig gemacht wurden, nicht nur idiotisch ist, sondern auch im schlimmsten Fall positiv verrückt.

 

Und während Merkmale von 2017 im Wesentlichen und auf einer persönlichen Ebene insgesamt sehr tröstlich sein könnten, und zwar hauptsächlich aus einer psychologischen Bewertung; jedoch, in fantasievoll oder sogar ernsthaft zu übersehen, ignorieren oder berechnend die unverfälschte Wahrheit über 2017 ist eindeutig reines Wunschdenken und in diesem Kontext allein verheißt nichts Gutes in jedem Fall davon - für Lektionen nicht gelernt und all diese Dinge - für die Einweihung von 2018.

 

Es ist ziemlich leicht zu verstehen, warum und wie man mit Menschen sympathisieren kann, die, ohne eigenes Verschulden, immensen und intensiven traumatischen Erlebnissen ausgesetzt waren, die sie wiederum gemeinsam alles in ihrer Macht stehende zu löschen wünschen aus ihrem Bewusstsein, so gut sie können, weil sie zu sehr in den schmerzhaften Erfahrungen des Ganzen gefangen sind und dementsprechend nicht auf ihnen verweilen wollen.

 

Und während ich nicht für einen einzigen Moment vorschlüge, dass ein solches Unternehmen nicht von solchen Individuen genommen werden sollte, gibt es dennoch eine große Welt des Unterschieds zwischen dem Versuch, etwas sehr Unangenehmes, das sich selbst ereignete, absichtlich auszulöschen, während auf der anderen Seite, aus welchem ​​Grund auch immer, so hartnäckig vorgeht, dass es nie passiert ist. Umso mehr, als der eigentliche Heilungsprozess zu mutig, wie schwierig auch immer das sein mag, effektiv mit dieser besonderen Unannehmlichkeit im Leben fertig zu werden und sich hoffentlich endlich damit zu arrangieren, wie quälend schmerzvoll eine Aufgabe auch sein mag.

 

Da man ohne objektives, richtiges und definitives Schließen, wie auch immer man sich wähnt, dieses Ziel erreicht zu haben, wird man in aller Wahrhaftigkeit niemals ganz erreicht werden und in den Begleitumständen nur als eine eiternde Wunde dienen, die jederzeit sehr gut sein könnte spontan wieder ausbrechen.

 

Es ist der gleiche Stand der Dinge im täglichen Leben und auf welcher Ebene man ernsthaft und realistisch denken kann, von im Wesentlichen jeden Tag und scheinbar banalen Fällen bis hin zu entscheidenden und potenziell weltbewegenden Situationen. Denn unabhängig davon, wie sie sich in der Vergangenheit betrachtet hat, hat sie doch einen signifikanten Einfluss auf die Gegenwart und die Zukunft, unabhängig davon, ob dies vernünftig und praktisch akzeptiert wird oder nicht. Und ob diese Auswirkung für das allgemeine Wohl der Menschheit allgemein oder umgekehrt für ihre völlige Zerstörung ist oder nicht, hängt natürlich beträchtlich von der Weisheit oder dem Mangel davon aller Beteiligten ab.

 

Aber meiner Meinung nach ist die zufällige Formulierung von Neujahrsbeschlüssen, die im Grunde genommen jeder Idiot tun kann, ohne dass die Beteiligten sich voll bewusst werden müssen, was früher im Jahr zuvor geschehen ist, nicht nur blödsinnige Ignoranz, sondern definitiv der Höhepunkt des Wahnsinns.

Mae gwneud penderfyniadau Blwyddyn Newydd yn iawn iawn. Mae cadw a gweithredu arnynt yn fater hollol wahanol!

Mae yna rai sydd â'r ffaith sy'n agosáu at ddiwedd y flwyddyn 2017 yn hwylus neu, yn anffodus, yn dweud y dylem ddathlu ei ben a pha bethau da, os oes unrhyw sylwedd, y daeth yn unigol i'r rhai a oedd yn ddigon ffodus i'w derbyn, ond yna yn unol â hyn oll, yn syth ac yn hapus, symud ymlaen gyda'n bywydau i groesawu yn y Flwyddyn Newydd 2018 sy'n hyrwyddo'n gyflym.

Gan nad yw hynny'n wrthrychol yn gwneud cau cywir a phenderfynol, fodd bynnag, efallai y bydd rhywun yn teimlo eu bod wedi cyflawni'r amcan hwnnw, ni fyddwn yn cyrraedd pob gwirionedd yn llwyr, ac yn yr amgylchiadau cynorthwyol dim ond yn gwasanaethu fel diflastod a allai ar unrhyw adeg yn dda iawn chwalu'n ddigymell eto.

 

Dyma'r un sefyllfa ym mywyd bob dydd ac ar ba bynnag lefel y gall un feddwl amdani o ddifrif ac yn realistig, yn ei hanfod bob dydd ac enghreifftiau pwer iawn i sefyllfaoedd hanfodol a allai fod yn dinistrio'r ddaear. Ar gyfer pa bynnag ffordd y mae'n edrych yn annibynnol ar y gorffennol, mae hyd yn oed felly yn effeithio'n sylweddol ar y presennol a'r dyfodol p'un a yw hynny'n cael ei dderbyn yn rhyfedd ac yn ymarferol ai peidio. A p'un a yw'r effaith honno ar gyfer lles cyffredin dynoliaeth yn gyffredinol neu i'r gwrthwyneb ar gyfer ei ddinistrio'n llwyr, wrth gwrs, yn dibynnu'n sylweddol ar ddoethineb, neu ddiffyg ohono, o'r rhai sy'n gysylltiedig.

 

Ond, yn fy marn i, mae gwneud penderfyniadau ar y Flwyddyn Newydd ar hap, sydd, yn ei hanfod, yn gallu gwneud rhywbeth iddyn nhw heb i'r rhai dan sylw fod yn ymwybodol o beth sydd wedi mynd ymlaen yn y flwyddyn flaenorol, nid yn unig yn anwybodaeth ddrwg ond hefyd yn fanwl gywirdeb llonydd.
